When you’re selling your home, planning and preparation are the key. Here are some of the top tips to set yourself up for a successful sale.
Declutter. According to HGTV, by cutting your furniture and belongings by up to half, your home will appear more spacious. A clutter-free home is also easier for buyers to picture as theirs.
Group furniture. Set your furniture in conversational, cozy groupings, and ensure there is a logical traffic pattern for every room. Making the space flow will encourage potential buyers to see the rooms as useful and open.
Bright and light. Evaluate the lighting in every room, ensuring you offer ambient overhead lighting, task lighting, and accent lights on walls and tables. Some experts note that most buyers will be interested in your home’s natural lighting, so open your blinds and shades.
Make repairs. As HouseLogic explains, your property should be as free of obvious maintenance issues as possible. You want buyers to feel they can move right in; if they see items in need of repair, they will have an impression of neglect.
Warm welcome. Your home should welcome buyers with great curb appeal. Create an inviting exterior. Pressure wash the siding, patio and deck, tidy your landscaping, and plant blooming flowers. Put out a new welcome mat and spruce up your mailbox.
Clean from top to bottom. You cannot overdo cleaning for your open house. Being sparkling clean helps buyers feel they can move right in. Hire a maid service for a one-time cleaning.
With a little planning, you can set yourself up for a successful open house. Just be ready to to the work and make sure not to stick around when buyers are on site.
